About us

Who are we? Well in short we are a team of regular guys and gals who have a passion to travel, witness new experiences, and most importantly keep our faith whilst doing so. With our experience we want to provide you with the insider knowledge that many Muslim travellers are tentative to consider as a holiday destination. We use only the best teams on the ground, hotels we have approved, and restaurants we’ve dabbled in to ensure your journey is as seamless as possible. Of course, nothing goes to plan all the time, but rest assured our slightly obsessive attitude means we are on hand should the unexpected occur.

Meet the Team

Asmaa (also known as Sammy around the office) is our city loving expert. From Sydney to Miami, Asmaa is the hijabi traveller keen to unearth everything a city has to offer. From tips on what to take for a modest beach holiday to how to survive the humidity of the Far East, Asmaa is also most sisters’ point of call for travel fashion advice.

Her favourite city is Singapore, mainly because of the bargains to be had in Bugis Junction and the nearby Albert Centre means she can eat her favourite thing in the world…noodles! Asmaa also reminds us on a frequent basis that she has clocked up the most miles in one flight with her trips to Australia…we’re quite competitive when it comes to things like this. Oh, and Asmaa is part responsible for Ted, our flying teddy mascot!

Commander in Chief, Nabeel found his love for travel on his solo adventures. Now, his passion for travel is to ensure you have an amazing trip to some of the worlds’ most sought after places. Although Asmaa holds the office record for most miles flown in one trip, Nabeel proudly holds the accolade of travelling to the worlds’ most remote inhabited island; Easter Island.

Nabeel’s favourite destination is too difficult to pin down. A true island goer, anywhere where he can cycle around the island in an hour, or take a boat to do a spot of deep sea fishing is a second home to him. With plenty of sunshine hours at some of the worlds’ most beautiful boutique hotels, Nabeel’s the go to person if you’re searching for a luxury hideaway.

Rukshan is our head techy, but ironically is very old school in the office with his trusty pen and scrap paper. His travel repertoire covers the most unusual of destinations, from Finland to Japan and he always has a knack of meeting the some interesting people. An accomplished cricketer and most recently squash player, his love for his homeland of Sri Lanka makes him an expert on the Emerald Isle.

His favourite destination is Japan, where he ate at ‘Gonpachi’ the famous restaurant scene in ‘Kill Bill’, met a real life sumo wrestler and travelled on the super cool bullet train. (He’s the guy on the left by the way!)

Ehsan provides us with wisdom (and wise cracks) on pretty much a daily basis, whether it’s a dash of poetry or his ad lib inspiring quotations. His knowledge of the Middle East is pretty useful too, and is the go to guy for anything in the UAE from the best places to eat (close to his heart) or an exhilarating experience in the mountains and desert.

His favourite destinations are the cosmopolitan Emirates and the gorgeous island of Langkawi. A true romantic (aww), he always looks for those special experiences that make moments memorable.

Susannah, better known as Sussie spent her younger years growing up in the U.K before moving out to the Philippines to reside. Having split her years in two very different cultures, Sussie has gained the love for travel, giving her the passion to write about the many beautiful countries. Being a lover of nature, culture, and history, Sussie has big plans to travel wherever her feet may take her, and witness firsthand the world’s most beautiful sights.

Abdurrahman joined the Serendipity in late 2016 bringing his wide breadth of knowledge of all things travel to the team. His passion for finding the latest hotel openings to what’s happening in the aviation world helps each and every one of our clients choose the most suited itinerary for their trip. Having spent time living in Australia, Abdurrahman is well travelled with miles notched up to Fiji, New Zealand, Qatar and Morocco to name but a few places. Next on the list, South Africa!

Say hello to Ted. He’s travels everywhere with us and to be honest, we think he’s the most well travelled mascot ever. Ted’s favourite destination is the Maldives, especially when he’s flying the seaplane and he’s often found sipping green tea and dining on sushi in Tokyo. He doesn’t say much, but we do think he’d be very zen like if were to share some of his thoughts with us. Email us with where you think Ted should travel to next!

Halal friendly travel

Our approach to halal friendly travel is simple, we’re here to make your journey comfortable so you can continue to practice your faith whilst meeting new people, exploring amazing cultures or simply relaxing on a private beach. As a benchmark we wish to make your journey as halal friendly as possible, for example, we don’t include wine tours in Argentina or send you to a hotel known for it’s gambling tendencies in the Far East. We ensure our tours and destinations include access to halal friendly meals throughout your journey, where halal meat is unavailable, we obtain confirmations to ensure a suitable seafood or vegetarian meal prepared in a halal environment is provided. We are aware how important subtle touches to your journey can make all the difference, at the same time maintain the authenticity of the culture.

Before you depart we will provide a mini guide on your destination to give you insider tips on where to eat, where to pray, what to see and how to speak a bit of the local lingo. We are dedicated to constantly finding experiences that shy away from the mundane, for you to get under the skin of the destination you’re discovering.

Our Ethos

We pride ourselves on providing a transparent, honest and engaging experience prior to travel. We’re not pushy folks, we’re here to ensure your experience from start to finish means you will come back and explore another destination with us. Before you leave we’ll send you a miniguide on the country you’re visiting, a travel prayer mat, compass and luggage tags. Most importantly though, if you like us please tell your friends, and tell them to tell us you told them about us. If you got that, then we’ll send you £20 of shopping vouchers on us.

Our Ethos

project

The Serendipity Foundation was set up to give back to the wonderful people we’ve come across on our travels. For each person that books with Serendipity Tailormade, we donate £5 to the Serendipity Foundation. Simply by booking with us, you’ve helped thousands of people through the role the Serendipity Foundation plays both here in the UK and abroad.

Whilst we’ve come across some amazing projects, we also believe charity begins at home, and the guys here at Serendipity Tailormade are humbled to support Al-Ishara, a fantastic initiative to provide access to Islam for the deaf community. We also work with orphanages and communities in Sri Lanka, to provide basic necessities to schools and villages we often take for granted, as well as an Islamic school in Indonesia supporting children from as young as 4 years old.
