It's fair to say that Islam in Korea isn't as widespread as in China or Southern Asia, with an estimated Muslim population of around 35'000. So to keep your trip halal friendly whilst ensuring you're experiencing the best of Korea, Serendipity Tailormade have put together a few ideas for the intrepid halal traveller. Korean food is often meat based, however aside from the inevitable carnivorous soup bases, there are some vegetarian Korean delights you must try. Kimchi is served with almost all meals, a cabbage dish soaked in ginger, garlic and chilli pepper. Vegetable Bibimbap and Congee rice are also famous Korean dishes, which we try to offer a sample of in a halal friendly environment. |

Halal Muslim Friendly Tours of Korea
In the very far east lies South Korea, steeped in history and cultural values dating centuries old. Located between China and Japan, South Korea’s morphing landscapes can change from technology mad Seoul to the quiet morning calm on Jeju Island. Seoul is amongst the 10 most expensive cities in the world, and you can see why, with mod-con giants on every corner, it’s also one of the most sophisticated too. Getting around the country is efficient and seamless, demonstrated in the super-duper fast KTX train which can get you from Seoul to Busan in the south in just over 2 hours. Once out in the country, South Korea puts on a show of natural beauty and Korean history. Busan is a good base for exploring the south, before heading on a short flight to Jeju Island. A must do on the island is Manjanggul, the longest lava tubes in the world, and the Sangumburi Crater. Avoid travelling to South Korea in winter, as temperatures can dip to -8 degrees centigrade. Late summer and Autumn tend to be the best months, and Serendipity Tailormade will tailor your halal friendly Korean adventure. |
